Recurrent Checkride Schedule

Roster of Recurrent Part 135 IFR-PIC Checkrides: TIME / LOCATION / PILOT / AIRCRAFT TYPE / CHECK AIRMAN

ATTENTION ALL LINE PILOTS: In an effort to increase pass rates, I have put together a complete 3-page checklist of all the knowledge subject areas that are a required component of initial and recurrent Part 135 IFR-PIC checkrides, whether you take it with an FAA inspector or a company Check Airman. Please click >>>>> HERE <<<<< to view it.

You may wish to use this checklist as a study guide prior to your checkride and you are highly enouraged to do so. Don't wait until the last minute to prepare -- instead, as a professional pilot, try to maintain an adequate level of aviation knoweldge at all times. (That's the intent of the regulatory requirement to periodically re-test on these topics. A good analogy is the recurrent training and testing physicians must undergo to maintain board certification in their speciality.)

SPECIAL NOTE: The profiles above are general examples only, and subject to change due to numerous factors, including aircraft equipment, facility outages, airspace congestion, weather and so forth. Nonetheless, I hope you find them helpful in preparing for your checkride.

If your checkride will be in a Baron instead of a 210, the profile will be generally the same as above EXCEPT for two things: first, we will skip slow flight clean while doing the air work tasks. Second, the simulated engine power failure will be performed while being vectored for the last ILS approach to a full stop. Run the full engine power failure procedure, including pulling the prop control all the way into the feather position. I will then set up the airplane for a zero-thrust condition and we will pretend that the engine has been fully shut down and secured. Establish a zero-sideslip mode and shoot the approach as normally as possible. On very short final, after I have advised you to go visual, when you are ready to close the throttle, close both throttles and bring both prop controls forward – this will get us ready for a potential real-life go-around.
