MOST RECENT NEWS AND UPDATES:

  1. Congratulations and thanks to our two newest Baron pilots, Shane Soligo and Ron Fletcher!

  2. Also congratulations and thanks to Steve Borowski, who scored a perfect 100% on his recurrent checkride knowledge test and had a flight described by Check Airman Adam Scudder as "practically flawless." Great job!

  3. Checkrides for northern (non-Florida) pilots other than the five below will probably be conducted at BNA in late July. Details to come.

  4. Checkride Schedule
UPDATED on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 with five St. Louis checkrides in July.

  5. NEW! Wednesday, June 10th, 2009: IFR Navigational Materials Master List updated to reflect cancelled runs. Please check this over! If you find any mistakes -- or if you want to suggest improvements -- please call or e-mail me.

  6. NEW! Wednesday, June 10th, 2009: I would like to advise all line pilots that a major new revision to the company GOM (Revision 13 -- 29 pages) is coming out. This is the result of an FAA Focus Base Inspection in May; the FSDO wanted numerous technical and semantic changes. Operationally, however, nothing will be different. Please install and/or remove the affected pages, sign the accompanying memo and then turn it back in to our Principal Operations Base. Then be ready for ramp checks! The FAA knows about this revision (obviously), so they will be out there verifying that your copy has been updated. HELP SPREAD THE WORD! PLEASE TELL YOUR FELLOW LINE PILOTS ABOUT THIS, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS. Thank you!

  7. NEW! Wednesday, June 10th, 2009: Another result of the FAA Focus Base Inspection I mentioned above is that we have a new consolidated training manual. You can download it HERE.

  8. Tuesday, May 26th, 2009: In an effort to increase pass rates, I have put together a complete 3-page checklist of all the knowledge subject areas that are a required component of initial and recurrent Part 135 IFR-PIC checkrides, whether you take it with an FAA inspector or a company Check Airman. Please click >>>>> HERE <<<<< to view it. You may wish to use this checklist as a study guide prior to your checkride and you are highly enouraged to do so. Don't wait until the last minute to prepare -- instead, try to maintain an adequate level of aviation knoweldge at all times. (That's the intent of the regulatory requirement to periodically re-test on these topics. A good analogy is the recurrent training and testing physicians must undergo to maintain board certification in their speciality.)

  9. Pilot Seniority List updated Tuesday, May 26th, 2009.

  10. Upcoming Recurrent Checkrides and Recurrent Ground Training UPDATED on Thursday, April 9th, 2009.
Everybody PLEASE remember to check this -- particularly the recurrent ground training part!

  11. To answer a recent question that I've had from three different people so far, we are neither licensed nor registered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) to carry live animals. I should point out, however, that under the Animal Welfare Act, the term "animal" specifically excludes rats and mice for regulatory purposes -- therefore, we can carry those and no special requirements apply.

  12. To answer a second question, dry ice requirements are per-package. In other words, if a package is exempt due to the small quantity of dry ice, it is still exempt regardless of how many other such packages you carry. The overall limit of 33 pounds for the whole airplane, however, still applies.

  13. (March 5th, 2009) The following company forms are now available here for download as an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files: Please avail yourself of these links to print fresh, sharp original copies of these forms for your base.

  14. AVEG to Winter Operations updated February 8th, 2009

UPCOMING CHANGES:

  • As most of you already know, we have moved our principal operations base from the old hangar to a brand-new facility directly across the field. Our new mailing address is:

3122 East Amelia Street, Suite C
    Orlando, FL 32803

. . . All company forms and documents must be changed to reflect this. Obviously that will take some time, but beginning in February please direct all correspondence to the new location. Thank you!
